Captain’s Main Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of the:

ACA Adult BSKTBLL Rules & National Federation of High Schools RULEBOOKS

  • Keeping up with all emailed info & current schedule
  • Game Cancellations
  • Communicating any game cancellations with league administration, your player & guests
    • Officials Fees due at every game: $40 per game (full season payment options are available)
    • Forfeit fees are due no later than five minutes before your next game played. Fees must be sealed in an envelope; check only, made out to CASH $80, or Online payment; you must bring the PAID receipt to the game. Sign the scoresheet as confirmation of this transaction
    • Rosters Management including:
    • Maintaining your ONLINE & Official roster & Player’s Play-off eligibility (30% attendance required)

      Email your roster: Team name, night, division, season, player 1st & last, DOB, and email to register@allcityathletics.org

      • Pre/Post Season, Consolation Games & Championship format subject to change
      • See ACA Rulebook for Protest procedures (Rules only, no judgment calls!)
      • PARTICIPANTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN FIRST AID
        (i.e., Ice Pack, Sports Tape, Ankle Wraps & etc.
        )
      • Must have your uniform by the third (3rd) game played. +1 point per uniform, Volition
      • CAPTAIN MUST provide game ball (Home team gets to choose)
      • We are only off on the facility’s recognized holidays. Teams may submit a "Request to Reschedule" for consideration.
      • Spectator capacity is ten (10) guests per team MAX
      • MANDATORY Team Captain Score Reporting:
        • Winning teams must record their wins on the online schedule by 3 PM the day following their game


      New Rules / Highlights:

      DEFENSIVE SHOOTING FOUL CHALLENGE

      • Authority: Only the designated Team Captain, Head Coach, or Manager may initiate a challenge. Establish this designation before tip-off on the scoresheet under captain or the official online roster.
      • Frequency: Each team is granted one (1) challenge per half. Unused challenges from the 2nd half carry over into overtime.
      • Timing: Challenges may be initiated at any point from tip-off until the final buzzer (no 2-minute restrictions).The Mechanic: Signal a "T" with hands and point to the floor, stating: "Challenge the Foul."
      • The Shot: The Offensive Team Coach selects one player from the Defensive Team to take a single three-point attempt.
      • MADE: The personal foul is rescinded (removed from player and team totals). The Offensive Team gets the ball at the half-court sideline.
      • MISSED: The original foul stands. The Offensive Team proceeds to shoot their original awarded free throws.

        The free-thrower shoots 1 free throw for the value of 2 points &

        *2 Free Throws = *3pts for a 3-pt shot attempt until the last 2 minutes of the game. *Standard Free Throws for 4th Qtr. 2 minutes and Overtime

        • Clear-Path-To-The Basket-Foul (official.nba.com/trigger/clear-path-to-the-basket-foul/)
        • Consolation & or Preseason Games = Official fees MUST be prepaid no later than one week before the game. If the Official fees are not prepaid, the game will not be scheduled
        • Personal Foul “No Foul OUTS” (Penalty: Loss of possession; two free-throws for non-shooting fouls)
        • NBA Jump Ball, 8 Sec backcourt, 4 Qtrs., Stop-Clock on Free throws,

        Divisions Skill Levels Defined:

        1. Basic = Novice, Just for Fun (Not for Dunking)
        1. Advanced = Adult League experienced, savvy, mixed talent (2 to 5 HS Varsity Players)
        1. Dunking Permitted
          1. = Adult League experienced, skilled, not for Beginners, (HS Varsity Skilled & up)
          1. NBA Defensive Three Seconds

          * Any defensive player who is positioned in the 16-foot lane or the area extending 4 feet past the lane endline must be actively guarding an opponent within three seconds. Actively guarding = being within arm’s length of an offensive player and in a guarding position.

          24 Second Clock Rules

          • Activated in the last two (2) minutes of each quarter or half
          • Will be held until the ball is inbounded

          INJURED PLAYER(S)

          • After the roster and period have expired, changes regarding injured players may be made at ANY time during the regular season (excluding playoff and championship games) ONLY if written verification can be produced by the injured player’s physician stating why the player cannot participate further in the league and for the estimated period of inactivity. Written verification must be turned in to the League Administrator.
          • Once written verification is produced, the injured player may be replaced with a player of the manager’s choice & must fit the competitive level of the division to be determined by the Adult Sports Staff.
